Crime Scene Unit

The Crime Scene Unit of the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory responds to major crime scenes statewide, providing local and state agencies with assistance in processing, documenting, and collection of evidence related to a crime. Crime Scene Team members are on call 24/7 to respond or assist local and state agencies across the state of Louisiana. Crime Scene Team members also provide free training to local and state agencies in crime scene processing and investigation, crime scene documentation, and evidence collection. The Crime Scene Unit assists multiple agencies all across the state in numerous investigations each year.

In addition to Crime Scene Response and Processing, the Crime Scene Unit also provides the following services:

Fingerprint Processing

Crime Scene Analysts provide expert witness testimony across the state and routinely provide assistance to Law Enforcement Agencies throughout Louisiana. All of the Crime Scene Primaries in the Louisiana State Police Laboratory are members of the International Association for Identification (IAI) and hold certifications in Crime Scene through that organization.
