Lt. Colonel Frank Besson

About

Lt. Colonel Frank Besson began his career with Louisiana State Police in 1999 as a Patrol Trooper assigned to Troop C in Houma, LA. A native of Grand Isle, LA, Lt. Colonel Besson earned an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Nicholls State University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University in Alexandria. Throughout his career he has held career assignments in Patrol, Support Services, Crisis Response, and Operational Development. Prior to his promotion to the rank of Major, he served as the Commander of Troop C in Patrol. As the Major over Transportation Safety Services and Crisis Response, he oversaw the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, the Weights Enforcement Unit, the Emergency Service Unit (HAZ-MAT), the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), the SWAT Team, the Mobile Field Force Team, and the Air Support Unit. 

Lt. Colonel Besson has over 30 years of law enforcement experience where he previously served as a Grand Isle Police Officer and a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Deputy. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and a recipient of numerous commendations and awards, including Professional Excellence, Meritorious Service Award, and Unit Citations.
