Unrestrained Driver Killed in Jefferson Parish Crash

Marrero – On March 10, 2022, at approximately 4:00 am, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a single-vehicle crash on US 90B (Westbank Expressway) near Westwood Drive in Marrero. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 48-year-old Kenneth J. Mayeaux, Jr of Westwego.

The initial investigation revealed that Mayeaux was driving a 2009 Nissan Sentra west on US 90B. As the Nissan approached the intersection, it entered the left turning lane and continued straight across Westwood Drive before the front of the vehicle impacted a traffic control signal support.

Mayeaux, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Impairment on the part of Mayeaux is unknown and routine toxicology results are pending.

Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of safe decisions behind the wheel. While not all crashes are survivable, wearing a seatbelt greatly reduces the chances of being killed or seriously injured in a crash. Avoid distractions that take the driver’s focus away from the road. Having a plan and making safe decisions could be the difference for tomorrow.
