Motorcyclist Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in St. Charles Parish

Saint Rose – On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, shortly before midnight, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B were notified of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on LA 626 (Saint Rose Avenue) at Barry Street, in St. Charles Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 54-year-old Keith Gaubert of Saint Rose.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Gaubert was driving a 2024 Indian Motorcycle south on LA 626, near Barry Street. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a mailbox, and then re-entered the roadway where Gaubert lost control and was ejected.

Gaubert, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, was pronounced dead on scene. Impairment is unknown, standard toxicology samples were collected from Gaubert and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Vehicle operators should practice safe and responsible behavior, including following speed limits, wearing a DOT-approved helmet while on a motorcycle or a seatbelt in a vehicle, and never operating their vehicle while impaired. It is crucial to remember that speeding decreases reaction time, increases stopping distance, heightens the risk of losing control of your vehicle, and reduces the effectiveness of safety devices such as helmets and seatbelts in the event of a crash.
