Baton Rouge, LA – Shortly after 5:00 pm this afternoon, an off-duty Trooper was charged with two counts of Simple Battery following a disturbance at the LSU vs UCLA football game. During the game, law enforcement personnel responded to a disturbance in the stands and discovered that a physical altercation occurred between the off-duty Trooper and two male subjects. Further investigation revealed that the off-duty Trooper, identified as 30-year-old Artellus Bellard of Lake Charles, initiated the physical battery following a verbal argument.
Trooper Bellard, assigned to Troop D Patrol since 2021, was charged with two counts of Simple Battery and released on a summons with a pending court date. No further information is available at this time, pending the completion of the criminal and administrative process.
