Jarreau Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Pointe Coupee Parish
Rougon – Shortly after 6:00 a.m. on January 1, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 416 at Patin Lane in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash claimed the life of 24-year-old Hailey Saizan of Jarreau.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Ford Escape, driven by Saizan, was traveling northbound on LA 416. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford failed to negotiate a curve, exited the roadway, and struck multiple trees.
Saizan was unrestrained, sustained serious injuries, and was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Impairment is unknown at this time; however, a standard toxicology sample will be taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
