Lake Charles - On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, in cooperation with McNeese State University and Louisiana State Police Troop D, will provide free child passenger safety seat checks in Lake Charles. The event will take place near the McNeese Recreation Complex at 4150 Ieyoub Family Drive in Lake Charles from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Child safety seat inspections will be conducted by nationally certified child passenger safety technicians who will assist with proper installation and answer questions.
Child safety seats and booster seats, when used properly, save lives. They offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. During the past 30 years, nearly 9,000 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is important caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt – every trip, every time.
Anyone who is unable to attend and would like to have a child safety seat inspected, may make an appointment with Louisiana State Police Troop D by calling 337-491-2466 or visit www.facebook.com/BuckleUpLouisiana for additional fitting station locations throughout Louisiana.
