Woman Arrested for Production and Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

Maurepas – On May 20, 2025, Investigators with the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP/SVU), in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), began an investigation into the production and possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The investigation resulted in the arrest of 39-year-old Christy Babin of Maurepas.

The investigation was initiated after the LSP SVU received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the potential exploitation of children. Through investigative efforts, investigators identified Babin as the individual responsible for possessing CSAM.

On May 29, 2025, a search warrant was executed at Babin’s residence. She was arrested for one count of Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles under the age of 13. Further investigation revealed that Babin also took the images of the Juvenile and she was subsequently charged with Production of Pornography Involving Juveniles, and booked into the Livingston Parish Jail. This case remains under investigation.

LSP SVU works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and through public education. The public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes and is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
