Concordia Parish – On September 26, 2026, at approximately 11:49 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 131. The crash claimed the life of a 55-year-old man from Vidalia.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette was southbound on Louisiana Highway 131. For reasons still under investigation, the Corvette left the roadway, impacted a fire hydrant and multiple trees, before coming to rest. At some point in the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver, who was not restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The passengers, who was restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local medical facility for treatment. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis.
Although not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.
