Unrestrained Patterson Man Killed in Iberville Parish Crash

Plaquemine – Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on May 22, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 77 near Jase Street in Iberville Parish. The crash claimed the life of 31-year-old Sky Valenciano of Patterson.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Valenciano was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer south on LA 77. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet exited the roadway to the left and struck a utility pole.

Valenciano was unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A front seat passenger in the Chevrolet was properly restrained and sustained only minor injuries. Impairment is not suspected at this time; however, a standard toxicology sample was taken and will be submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers urge drivers to always make safe decisions behind the wheel: never drive impaired, always wear a seat belt, and avoid distractions. Taking a few extra seconds to buckle up or slow down can be the difference between life and death.
