Unrestrained Motorist Killed in Pointe Coupee Parish Crash

Ventress – Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on November 8, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 416 near LA 981 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash claimed the life of 88-year-old Joseph Bajoie of Glynn, LA.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Bajoie was driving a 2005 Dodge 1500 pickup truck west on LA 416. For reasons still under investigation, the Dodge traveled off the right side of the roadway, reentered the roadway, and then exited to the left before striking a tree.

Bajoie was unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Impairment is not suspected; however, a routine toxicology sample will be collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
