Unrestrained Holden Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

Holden – On December 12, 2022, shortly after 8:30 am, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 1036 at John Barber Road in Livingston Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 34-year-old Mark Randall Crayton Jr. of Holden.   

 

The preliminary investigation revealed that Crayton was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche headed south on LA 1036.   For reasons still being investigated, Crayton failed to negotiate a left hand curve, exited the roadway to the right, and entered the southbound ditch.  Thereafter, Crayton re-entered the roadway headed south and exited the roadway to the left before striking a tree.         

 

Crayton, who was not restrained at the time of the crash, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.  As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Crayton and will be submitted for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.  

While not all crashes are survivable, statistics demonstrate that properly worn restraints can significantly reduce your risk of being injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries in crashes.
