Arnaudville – On October 13, 2025, shortly after 2:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on Louisiana Highway 93 near Saputil Lane. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 49-year-old Michelle Romero of Arnaudville.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Rogue, driven by Romero, was traveling north on LA Hwy 93. For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan traveled off the roadway to the right, entered a drainage ditch, and struck an embankment before overturning.
Romero, who was not restrained at the time of the crash, sustained serious injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
A standard toxicology sample was collected from Romero and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, wearing seat belts correctly can significantly improve your chances of survival and reduce injury severity. Ensure that the seatbelt is correctly positioned across your hips and shoulders. These measures are crucial for arriving at your destination safely. Additionally, distracted and inattentive driving remains a leading cause of crashes in our state. These simple precautions and adhering to all traffic laws can significantly enhance road safety.
