Ethel – Shortly after 12:00 p.m. on March 8, 2024, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of LA 10 and LA 955 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash claimed the life of 57-year-old Frank Stevens of Ethel.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Sequoia was traveling eastbound on LA 10 approaching the intersection of LA 955. At the same time, Stevens was traveling northbound on LA 955 approaching LA 10, in a 2016 Toyota Scion. Stevens began to turn left onto LA 10, into the path of the Sequoia, and the front of the Sequoia impacted the front of the Scion.

Stevens was unrestrained at the time of the crash.  He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. While impairment is unknown, standard toxicology samples will be taken and submitted for analysis. The driver and passenger of the Toyota Sequoia sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being severely injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries in crashes.
