Unrestrained Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Ouachita Parish Crash

Ouachita – On Friday, May 30, 2025, shortly before 4:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 20 westbound at milepost 103. The crash claimed the life of 52-year-old Jesse Wayne Culpepper of West Monroe.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2013 GMC Sierra, driven by Culpepper, was pulling a small utility trailer westbound on Interstate 20. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC abruptly veered right and struck a guardrail before overturning.

Culpepper, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the GMC and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment, where he later died. The front-seat passenger in the GMC, who was properly restrained, received minor injuries. Impairment is not a suspected factor in this crash. This crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being severely injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries during crashes.
