Unrestrained Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Claiborne Parish Crash

Homer – This afternoon, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 3062 near Meadors Lane. The crash claimed the life of 39-year-old Tansay Harper of Homer.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Dodge pickup, driven by Harper, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 3062. For reasons still under investigation, Harper’s vehicle exited the roadway, collided with a tree, and overturned.

Harper, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment is unknown at this time; however routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injuries. Ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.
