Metairie On Monday, June 9, 2025, just after 11:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a multi-vehicle crash on LA 3152, near King Street in Jefferson Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 80-year-old Oscar Carter IV and his front-seat passenger, 77-year-old Martha Bradford, both of New Orleans.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Infiniti G37, driven by Carter, was traveling north on LA 3152 near King Street in the center lane. At the same time, a Nissan Altima was also traveling north on LA 3152 in the left lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Infiniti veered into the left lane and struck the right side of the Nissan. Following the initial impact, the Infiniti entered the median and struck a tree, while the Nissan crossed the median into the southbound lanes of LA 3152 and struck a 2020 Buick Encore traveling south.

Carter suffered serious injuries and died on scene. Bradford also suffered serious injuries, was transported to a local hospital, and later died. Neither Carter nor Bradford was properly restrained at the time of the crash. All occupants of the Nissan and the Buick, as well as the rear-seat passenger in the Infiniti, were properly restrained, suffered minor injuries, and were transported to a local hospital. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Far too often, Troopers see the tragic results of preventable crashes. While not all crashes are survivable, wearing seatbelts correctly can significantly improve your chances of survival and reduce the severity of injuries. Ensure the seatbelt is correctly positioned across your hips and shoulders, and ensure children are securely fastened in appropriate car seats. These measures are crucial for arriving at your destination safely. Additionally, distracted and inattentive driving remains a leading cause of crashes in our state. Adhering to these simple precautions and all traffic laws can significantly enhance road safety.
