Unrestrained Denham Springs Man Killed in Head-On Livingston Parish Crash
Denham Springs – Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on November 28, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 1019 near Amite Church Road in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 55-year-old John Cason of Denham Springs.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Cason was driving a 2015 Mazda 3 north on LA 1019, south of Amite Church Road. At the same time, a 2017 Nissan Altima was traveling south on LA 1019. For reasons still under investigation, the Mazda crossed the centerline and struck the Nissan head-on.
Cason was unrestrained at the time of the crash, sustained severe injuries, and was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Nissan was properly restrained and sustained moderate injuries. Impairment is not a suspected factor in this crash; however, standard toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make responsible choices when driving: avoid impairment, fatigue, and distractions. Follow traffic laws and ensure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained. While not all crashes are preventable, simple precautions like these can save lives.
