Opelousas – On July 2, 2025, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Louisiana Highway 31 (Creswell Lane) near Pebble Road. This crash ultimately claimed the life of a pedestrian whose identity remains unknown.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking in the right lane of LA Hwy 31 Southbound. At the same time, 32-year-old Cody Leger of Arnaudville was also traveling south on LA Hwy 31 in a 2015 Mazda CX9. For reasons still under investigation, the Mazda struck the pedestrian in the southbound lane.
