Eunice – On April 2, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 13 near Mariaun Road in Evangeline Parish. The crash claimed the life of 68-year-old Timmy Devillier of Mamou and 25-year-old Andrew Godeaux of Mamou.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 GMC Sierra, driven by Devillier, was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 13 approaching Mariaun Road. At the same time a 2017 Ford F-150, driven by Godeaux, with a boat attached was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 13 approaching Mariaun Road. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC crossed the centerline and struck the Ford head-on.

Devillier, who was restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Godeaux, who was unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state. Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving. Additionally, while not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease the chances of serious injury or death. Always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. Every trip. Every time.
