Troopers Seek Hit and Run Vehicle that Critically Injured Pedestrian

Hammond – This morning, shortly after 05:00 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a hit and run crash that occurred on LA Hwy 3234 (University Avenue) near Puma Drive in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash critically injured a pedestrian. 

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as the pedestrian was walking eastbound in the eastbound lanes of LA Hwy 3234. At the same time, an unidentified vehicle was traveling eastbound on LA Hwy 3234. For reasons still under investigation, the unidentified vehicle struck the pedestrian. After striking the pedestrian, the suspect briefly stopped before fleeing the scene. 

Evidence located at the scene suggests the suspect vehicle is a dark hunter green 2003-2006 Chevrolet Silverado with damage to its front end. 

This crash remains under investigation and Troopers ask that anyone with any information regarding this crash please contact Louisiana State Police Troop L at (985) 893-6250, or their local law enforcement agency.
