Troopers Request Public Assistance in Fatal Hit-and-Run Investigation

Baton Rouge – Just before 1:45 p.m. on October 22, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on LA 67, just north of LA 408, in Baton Rouge. The crash claimed the life of 71-year-old James Rasberry of Hodge, Louisiana.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Rasberry was walking along the southbound shoulder of LA 67 when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle. Following the collision, the vehicle fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Rasberry suffered severe injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Impairment is an unknown factor at this time; however, a routine toxicology sample was collected for analysis. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab responded to process the scene. This crash remains under investigation.

Based on evidence collected at the scene, Troopers believe the suspect vehicle is a 2019 or newer Nissan Altima, with damage to the right front bumper area, including the headlight and side mirror. Troopers are working to identify the driver of the vehicle. If anyone has information regarding this crash, we urge you to contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225) 754-8500.
