Haughton – This morning, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 west of Louisiana Highway 157. The crash claimed the life of a 35-year-old man from Bossier City.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Honda Civic was traveling west on Interstate 20. For reasons still under investigation, the Honda exited the roadway, collided with a guardrail, reentered the roadway, and subsequently collided with a westbound 18-wheeler.
The driver, who was restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was properly restrained and sustained no injuries. Impairment is not suspected; however, standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to obey all traffic laws and remain alert while driving. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can mean the difference between life and death.
