Troopers Investigating Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash in Ascension Parish

Donaldsonville – Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on August 10, 2026, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA 308 near LA 943 in Ascension Parish. The crash claimed the life of 48-year-old Tunisia Claiborne of Napoleonville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Claiborne was driving a 2026 Mazda 3 south on LA 308. For reasons still under investigation, the Mazda traveled off the roadway and entered the ditch. After initial impact, the Mazda continued through the ditch, struck a tree, and overturned.

Claiborne was improperly restrained at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Impairment is suspected, and routine toxicology samples will be taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police reminds motorists that making responsible decisions behind the wheel can prevent serious injury and death. Never drive impaired, always obey posted speed limits, and ensure every occupant is properly restrained. Seat belts significantly increase the chances of surviving a crash.
