Troopers Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Livingston Parish

Livingston – Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on May 25, 2026, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA 42 near Range Line Road in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 20-year-old Christa Prestridge.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on LA 42 just west of LA 63. For reasons still under investigation, Prestridge walked into the roadway in front of her residence and was struck by the Ram.

Prestridge sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Dodge was properly restrained and was uninjured in the crash. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples will be obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind pedestrians and motorists that roadway safety is a shared responsibility. Pedestrians should avoid walking in travel lanes whenever possible and wear visible clothing at night. Motorists are encouraged to remain alert, especially in low-light conditions, and to always be prepared to react to unexpected hazards.
