Troopers Continue Investigation into Hit-and-Run Crash that Killed Pedestrian in Beauregard Parish

Ragley – On February 9, 2025, shortly before 4:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a hit-and-run fatality crash involving a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 171 near A.D. Hodges Road. The crash claimed the life of 17-year-old Jodie Cannon of Longville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Cannon was in the right southbound lane of U.S. Hwy 171 when he was struck by a vehicle. After the collision, the vehicle left the scene.

Cannon sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Troopers and detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations - Sulphur Field Office have followed up on numerous leads since the crash. Through investigative means, a potential vehicle and driver involved were identified, though further forensic analysis is pending.
