Troopers Arrest Mississippi Fugitive Following Multi-Agency Investigation
Jackson – On September 9, 2026, Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division, Baton Rouge Field Office (LSP-CID-BRFO), in coordination with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and local law enforcement partners, arrested 26-year-old Kelin Moore of Jackson on multiple outstanding warrants from Mississippi.
The investigation stemmed from a July 4, 2026 homicide and mass shooting in Wilkinson County, Mississippi. On July 29, 2026, LSP-CID-BRFO assisted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) with the apprehension of suspects connected to the shooting. That investigation resulted in the seizure of multiple machine gun conversion devices and led investigators to identify Moore as a suspect in the Mississippi homicide investigation.
As the investigation continued, detectives developed information indicating Moore was involved in the distribution and sale of firearm parts and conversion devices. Working with ATF and other law enforcement partners, investigators identified multiple shipments addressed to Moore containing firearm components. Investigators subsequently identified two locations in Jackson, LA associated with Moore and the storage of firearms and firearm accessories.
On September 9, LSP-CID-BRFO, ATF, and local law enforcement partners, with assistance from LSP SWAT, executed search warrants at both locations. Moore was taken into custody on 19 outstanding Mississippi warrants, including two counts of Murder, seven counts of Aggravated Assault, and 10 counts of Drive-By Shooting.
During the execution of the search warrants, investigators also seized six firearms and multiple firearm components. Moore was arrested and booked into the East Feliciana Parish Prison and subsequently extradited to Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are pending. LSP continues to work alongside our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to identify and apprehend individuals involved in violent criminal activity and the illegal possession and distribution of firearm conversion devices.
