Troop NOLA Arrests Two Following Pursuit, One Wanted for Out-of-State Murder Warrant

New Orleans – Today, Troopers from Troop NOLA were conducting proactive patrols when Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2016 Lincoln MKZ for multiple traffic violations near North Roman St. & Elysian Fields Ave. The driver of the Lincoln refused to stop and fled from Troopers through several city streets before both the driver and passenger fled on foot. With assistance from the FBI - New Orleans Field Office, New Orleans Police Department, and the Port of New Orleans Harbor Police, both were successfully apprehended without incident.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, 31-year-old Danny Daniels of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, had active warrants out of Vermont for multiple charges (to include 1st-degree murder) and Pennsylvania for multiple federal drug charges. As a result of the investigation, both Daniels and his passenger, 18-year-old A’Juan Preston of New Orleans, were arrested and booked on the following charges:

•    Danny Daniels (booked into St. Tammany Parish Jail)
•    Display of plate
•    Aggravated flight from an officer
•    Resisting an officer
•    Illegal possession of stolen things (9mm Pistol)
•    Possession of a firearm concealed by a felon
•    Possession of Schedule I narcotics
•    Possession of Schedule III narcotics
•    Possession of narcotics with a firearm
•    Also booked on the above-mentioned out-of-state warrants

•    A’Jaun Preston (booked into Orleans Parish Prison)
•    Resisting an officer
•    Possession of Schedule I narcotics
•    Possession of Schedule III narcotics
•    Possession of narcotics with a firearm
•    Illegal possession of a stolen firearm

This incident remains under investigation.
