Ouachita Parish – On Friday, September 5, 2026, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 15, just south of Airline Drive. The crash claimed the life of 29-year-old Javier Hernandez of Farmerville.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2007 Toyota Avalon, driven by Hernandez, was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 15. At the same time, a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling north on Highway 15. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota veered left, crossed the centerline, and struck the Chevrolet head-on in the northbound lane.
Hernandez, who was not properly restrained, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Camaro, who was properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries. On September 6, 2026, Louisiana State Police Troop F was notified that Hernandez succumbed to his injuries. Impairment is suspected on the part of Hernandez. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to remind all motorists that if you feel differently, you drive differently. Alcohol, prescription drugs, and other drugs have many effects on the body that negatively affect driving skills. These drugs can impair visual ability, alter the sense of time and space, impair fine motor skills needed to operate a motor vehicle, and decrease reaction times. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and designate a sober driver. Not doing so can have deadly consequences.
