Basile – On January 1, 2026, around 7:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 190 near Bryan Perrodin Loop in Acadia Parish. The crash claimed the life of 62-year-old David Doucet of Sulphur.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Toyota Tundra, driven by Doucet, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of LA Hwy 190. At the same time, a 2015 GMC Canyon was traveling east on LA Hwy 190. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota collided head-on with the front of the GMC.
Doucet, who was properly restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the GMC, who were also properly restrained, sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment.
Standard toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
