Homer – Earlier today, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 2 near Bella Vista Road. The crash claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman from Sterlington.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2023 Toyota Highlander was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 2. At the same time, a 2018 Blue Bird Conventional school bus transporting students was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 2 ahead of the Toyota. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota collided with the rear of the school bus.

The driver of the Toyota, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the school bus was properly restrained and uninjured, and no injuries were reported among the students being transported. Impairment is not suspected; however, standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to obey all traffic laws and remain alert while driving. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can mean the difference between life and death.
