*UPDATE* State Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Ascension Parish

Gonzales – Louisiana State Police investigators continue the investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Ascension Parish on February 10, 2025.

The preliminary investigation revealed that shortly before 12:30 a.m., Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) deputies and an officer with the Gonzales Police Department (GPD) located a vehicle matching the description of one involved in an armed robbery in Gonzales. A traffic stop was initiated at LA 44 and W. Orice Roth Road.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Abdulrahman Ali of Gonzales, exited the vehicle holding a pistol. Despite multiple verbal commands from officers to drop the weapon, Ali discharged the firearm into the air and then pointed the gun in the direction of officers. In response, APSO deputies and the GPD officer fired their weapons, striking Ali.

Ali was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. This remains an active investigation.

Gonzales – At approximately 1:00 a.m. on February 10, 2025, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) requested assistance from the Louisiana State Police – Bureau of Investigations to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred near LA 44 and West Orice Roth Road. Investigators are working to process the scene and gather further information.

One subject was wounded and transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. No officers were harmed during the incident. This is an active investigation and further information will be released when it becomes available.
