Calhoun – Troopers with Troop F continued the investigation into the October 5, 2025, fatal crash that claimed the life of 7-year-old Messiah Harris of Calhoun.
Based on the investigation's findings and information obtained, Troopers secured an arrest warrant through the 4th Judicial District Court for 59-year-old Tony Harris. On October 24, 2025, Tony Harris was arrested and charged with hit-and-run driving, careless operation, child passenger restraint system, and possession of alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. He was processed into the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center without incident. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind motorists of the critical importance of stopping at the scene of any crash. Louisiana law requires drivers involved in a crash to stop, provide identifying information, and render reasonable aid to anyone injured. Fulfilling this responsibility not only complies with the law but also protects lives and ensures that help reaches those in need as quickly as possible. State Police Seek Help Identifying Driver in Single-Vehicle Fatality Crash
Calhoun – On Saturday, October 4, 2025, shortly after 3:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash involving a juvenile. The crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 151, just north of New Mineral Spring Road. As a result of the crash, 7-year-old Messiah Harris of Calhoun was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Ford F-150 was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 151. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford veered right, exited the roadway, and struck several trees. The driver of the Ford left the scene and has not been identified at this time.
Harris, who was improperly restrained in the front passenger seat, received serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Based on evidence, it is believed that the driver was injured due to the crash. On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Louisiana State Police Troop F was notified that Harris succumbed to his injuries.
