**UPDATE** Louisiana State Police Investigating Trooper-Involved Shooting in Orleans Parish

New Orleans – Louisiana State Police detectives have continued investigating the Trooper involved shooting that took place in Orleans Parish on August 7, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m. Detectives identified the vehicle involved in the pursuit as a 2012 Honda Fit, and through investigative means determined that 19-year-old Anthony Rios-Flores of New Orleans was the driver and sole occupant.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Rios-Flores was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Speeding, and two counts of Hit and Run. This investigation remains ongoing.

Initial Release August 8, 2025:

New Orleans – On August 7, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m., Detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Force Investigation Unit were called to investigate a shooting incident involving a Trooper in New Orleans.
 
Preliminary information indicates that around 9:00 p.m., Troopers conducting proactive patrols in the New Orleans area attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver failed to comply, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle turned onto Pleasure Street and came to a stop at a dead end. While attempting to flee, the driver reversed toward the Troopers, striking an LSP-marked patrol unit. At that time, a Trooper discharged his service weapon.

The suspect vehicle fled the area and has not been located. There are no known injuries to the suspect(s) or the responding Troopers.

Louisiana State Police is the lead investigative agency, with FIU personnel processing the scene. This investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
