Greensburg – Louisiana State Police detectives are continuing their investigation into a deputy-involved shooting involving the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office (SHPSO) that occurred on the evening of March 12, 2026.

The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 7:30 p.m., a SHPSO deputy responded to a residence located at 584 Willie Redden Rd. in Greensburg to assist the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) with an ongoing investigation involving 37-year-old Norra Virginia Yvette Crier of Greensburg.

During the course of the investigation, while speaking with DCFS and the deputy, Crier produced a firearm, and fired multiple rounds toward the investigators. In response, the deputy discharged his weapon toward Crier.

Crier then retreated back inside the residence before ultimately fleeing from the rear of the home with her children. She was taken into custody a short time later. Her children were found at a nearby residence, unharmed, and placed in the custody of DCFS for further care. The caseworker, deputy, and Crier were not injured during the incident.

While detectives processed the scene, they located another firearm and various quantities of narcotics.

Detectives obtained a warrant, and Crier was arrested and booked into the St. Helena Correctional Facility for Two Counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder, Two Counts of Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS, Three Counts of Child Endangerment, One Count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I CDS (Marijuana), and One Count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS (Cocaine).
