**UPDATE** Louisiana State Police Detectives Investigating Marksville Police Department Officer-Involved Shooting
Marksville- On June 15, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were requested by the Marksville Police Department (MPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Laurel Street in Marksville.
The preliminary investigation revealed that MPD Officers were investigating a shots-fired complaint in the area of Laurel Street in Marksville. While in the area, Officers made contact with a male subject. During this encounter, a physical altercation ensued, and the subject armed himself with a firearm. As a result, an Officer shot the subject. Immediately after the shooting, the Officers rendered aid until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene. EMS then transported the subject to a local hospital, but the subject was ultimately pronounced deceased.
Louisiana State Police is the lead investigating agency in this officer-involved shooting incident. The investigation remains ongoing, with further information to be released in coordination with the Avoyelles Parish District Attorney’s Office at the appropriate time.

Marksville– On June 15, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were requested by the Marksville Police Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Laurel Street in Marksville. Detectives are working to process the scene and gather further information.
One subject was shot and then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Both Officers suffered minor injuries but were released following medical treatment. This is an active investigation; further information will be released when it becomes available.
