Chauvin – Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division continue the investigation into the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy-involved shooting that occurred on September 27, 2026.
The preliminary investigation revealed that just after 5:00 a.m., Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance on Clinton Street, where they encountered a 29-year-old subject from Raceland.
During the encounter, TPSO deputies became involved in a physical altercation with the subject. During the altercation, a deputy discharged their service weapon, striking the subject, who died at the scene. One deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the altercation.
The investigation also revealed that, prior to TPSO’s arrival, the same subject was involved in two separate physical altercations with two victims. One victim sustained moderate injuries and transported themselves to a local hospital. The second victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
This investigation remains active, and additional details will be released as they become available.

Chauvin – On September 27, 2026, at 6:34 a.m., detectives within the Criminal Investigations Division, Houma Field Office, were requested by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) to investigate a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Clinton Street in Chauvin.
Investigators are working to process the scene and gather further information.
One subject was shot and pronounced deceased at the scene. One deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries during a physical altercation. This is an active investigation, and further information will be released when it becomes available.
