Plain Dealing – This morning, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 157 near Bolinger Cutoff Road. The crash claimed the life of 66-year-old Gregory Schildroth of Springhill.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 GMC Sierra, driven by Schildroth, was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 157. For reasons still under investigation, the GMC exited the roadway and overturned.
Schildroth, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment is not suspected; however, standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being severely injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seatbelt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries during crashes.
