Speed and Lack of Restraint Contribute to East Feliciana Parish Fatal Crash

Jackson – Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on May 21, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 68 north of LA 10 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Michael Lillie of Jackson.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Lillie was traveling south on LA 68 at a high rate of speed in a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, exited the roadway to the right, and struck a culvert. After impact, the vehicle became airborne, struck a utility pole, and overturned.

Lillie was unrestrained at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Impairment is unknown at this time; however, a routine toxicology sample was collected for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers urge drivers to always make safe decisions behind the wheel: never drive impaired, always wear a seat belt, and avoid distractions. Taking a few extra seconds to buckle up or slow down can be the difference between life and death.
