Single-Vehicle Crash in Jefferson Parish Claims Life of Barataria Man

Marrero – On Friday, May 9, 2025, around 1:30 pm, Troopers with the Louisiana State Police Troop B were notified of a single-vehicle crash on LA 3134, south of LA 45, in Jefferson Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 69-year-old Gordon Cordes of Barataria.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Cordes was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup south on LA 3134, south of LA 45, near the entrance to Parc Des Familles. For reasons still under investigation, the Ram ran off the left side of the roadway, striking a light pole and multiple trees in the median.

Cordes, who was restrained, suffered serious injuries and died on scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
