Webster Parish – This morning, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 371 near Yellow Pine Road. The crash claimed the life of 40-year-old Joey Washington of Sibley.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2020 Ford F-150, driven by Washington, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 371. For reasons still under investigation, Washington’s vehicle exited the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and collided with a tree. Following the crash, the Ford caught fire and became engulfed in flames.
Washington, whose restraint use is unknown at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment is unknown; however, toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Louisiana State Police urges all drivers to obey all traffic laws and remain alert while driving. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
