Stonewall – On November 26, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 171 near Griffin Drive. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 35-year-old Brandy Thomas of Shreveport.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Nissan Altima, driven by Thomas, was stopped at a red light in the right lane of U.S. Highway 171 and Griffin Drive. At the same time, a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia was traveling south on U.S. Highway 171 in the right lane, approaching the intersection. For reasons still under investigation, the Freightliner failed to stop at the red light and collided with the Nissan.

Thomas, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Freightliner was properly restrained and sustained no injuries. Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.

Troop G was notified that on November 28, 2025, Thomas had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers often witness the tragic consequences of preventable crashes. Never operating a vehicle while impaired, fatigued, or distracted is essential, and always obey all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking these simple precautions can mean the difference between life and death.
