Shreveport Woman Killed in Avoyelles Parish Crash

Avoyelles Parish – On March 1, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a three-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 1 near Louisiana Highway 1183.  This crash claimed the life of 27-year-old Emily Flores of Shreveport.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, driven by Flores, was northbound on Louisiana Highway 1. For reasons still under investigation, Flores crossed the center lines and side-swiped a southbound 2010 Lexus R35. After this initial impact, Flores continued into the southbound lane of travel and struck a southbound 2023 Dodge Charger head-on.

Flores, who was wearing a DOT approved helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Lexus and the driver of the Dodge, who were restrained, sustained minor injuries. Although impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state.  Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving.  A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences.

In 2024, Troop E Troopers have investigated seven fatal crashes resulting in eight fatalities.
