Natchitoches Parish – On August 14, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-49 south of Natchitoches. The crash claimed the life of 30-year-old Brandon Storey of Shreveport.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2020 commercial vehicle and an unknown make/model vehicle, driven by Storey, were northbound on I-49.  For reasons still under investigation, Storey failed to slow down and rear-ended the commercial vehicle.  After impact, the unknown make/model vehicle became engulfed in flames.

Storey, restraint usage unknown, sustained fatal injuries and he was pronounced dead on-scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle, who was restrained, sustained no injuries. Routine toxicology sample were obtained and submitted for analysis.

While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state.  Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving.  A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences.
