Prairieville Woman Killed in Ascension Parish Crash

Sorrento – Shortly after 12:40 a.m. on June 27, 2025, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 22 at Old Highway 22 in Ascension Parish. The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Shelby Molea of Prairieville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Jeep Compass, driven by Molea, was traveling east on LA 22. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and traveled off the right side of the roadway, entered a ditch, and overturned. 

Molea was unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. Impairment is unknown; however, a routine toxicology sample will be collected and submitted for analysis. This crash is still under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted; follow all traffic laws, and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
