The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 GMC Sierra was driving north in the right northbound lane of Louisiana Highway 143. Pedestrian safety is paramount when walking near and crossing roadways. To stay safe, pedestrians should always walk while facing oncoming traffic. This allows pedestrians to see oncoming vehicles and react appropriately. Additionally, when walking at night, wear brightly colored clothing or reflective gear to make it easier for drivers to see you. These simple yet vital precautions can help keep pedestrians safe and reduce the likelihood of pedestrian-involved crashes.
