Scott – On October 11, 2026, shortly before 6:30 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Louisiana Highway 93 near Lockfield Lane. The crash claimed the life of an 18-year-old man of Carencro.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling north on LA Hwy 93. At the same time a pedestrian was walking along the shoulder on LA Hwy 93. For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian entered the northbound lane and was struck by the Chevrolet.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was properly restrained and reported no injuries. A routine toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor; however, the crash remains under investigation.
Troopers urge pedestrians to exercise caution when walking near roadways. Wearing light-colored clothing, avoiding distractions, and keeping a safe distance from travel lanes while walking near oncoming vehicles can help prevent pedestrian-related crashes. Motorists should be properly restrained and remain vigilant when approaching disabled vehicles or pedestrians near the roadside. If you witness any hazardous situations, please dial *LSP (*577) to report it to the Louisiana State Police.
