Pedestrian Killed in Jefferson Davis Parish Crash; Troopers Seeking Vehicle Involved

Iowa – On August 27, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on the Interstate 10 frontage road just east of U.S. Highway 165 in Jefferson Davis Parish. The crash claimed the life of 53-year-old Bonnie Fontenot of Jennings, who had previously been reported missing by the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown vehicle traveling on the I-10 frontage road struck Fontenot and left the scene.   

Fontenot sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. This crash remains under investigation.
