Pedestrian Killed in Iberville Parish Crash
Plaquemine – Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on September 21, 2026, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA 75, just south of LA 404 in Iberville Parish. The crash claimed the life of a 69-year-old man from Plaquemine.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on LA 75. At the same time, the pedestrian was near the southbound roadside edge of LA 75 retrieving mail from his mailbox. For reasons still under investigation, the Silverado struck the pedestrian in the roadway.
The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Silverado was properly restrained and was uninjured. Impairment is unknown; however, standard toxicology samples will be obtained from the pedestrian and the driver of the Chevrolet and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to remind motorists to remain alert and attentive at all times, especially when traveling near homes, businesses, and other areas where pedestrians may be present near the roadway. Pedestrians should also remain aware of approaching traffic and use extreme caution anytime they are walking, standing, or conducting activities near a travel lane.
