Pedestrian Killed in East Feliciana Parish Crash

Clinton – On December 7, 2022, shortly after 8:30 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on LA 63 north of LA 37 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 44-year-old Carly Kennison of Denham Springs.

The initial investigation revealed Kennison was wearing dark clothing and walking in the roadway on LA 63.  At the same time, a 2017 Ford F-250 pickup was headed north on LA 63.  For reasons still investigated, Kennison was struck by the Ford pickup.

Kennison sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.  The driver of the Ford was properly restrained and did not sustained any injuries in the crash.  Impairment is not suspected for the driver of the Ford and is unknown for the pedestrian.  Standard toxicology samples were taken from both driver and pedestrian and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Pedestrians should always ensure that they are visible to drivers by wearing bright or light-colored clothing and reflective material.  Pedestrians should always utilize sidewalks and when no sidewalk is available, walk as close to the roadway’s edge while facing traffic.  If walking at night, always carry a flashlight for added safety.
